Introducing Sadie Joy

The newest and best addition to our little family:

Sadie Joy Moore

Born Thursday September 12, 2013 at 1:12AM.
Weighing in at 7lbs. 1oz. and 20.5 inches long.

I've been asked what we will call her. We have no preference and will probably bounce back between Sadie, Sadie Joy and SJ. you are welcome to call her any of these names.  When she is older, she can decide what her favorite is or if she has a preference. :)

Sadie is like every baby where she eats and sleeps all the time. She sleeps about 3 hours, eats and then sleeps again. But day 4 brought an unexpected wonderful surprise of Sadie Joy alertness.

Stephen is the best daddy who wakes up to help with late night feedings by changing her diaper and soothing her when I may need a break. He was made to be a dad. I couldn't ask for a better partner to share in this wonderful new journey.

I already feel like I've been a momma for years. Jesus called me to be a mom from the very beginning and I am beyond thrilled to fulfill this role every day for the rest of my life.
Happy parents
Daddy loving on Sadie
Granddad brought the paper from the day of her birth :)

Coming home!
In my room for the first time

Can someone please turn the light off?

So tiny in my big big crib

That's all I can think to share at this point.

Changes

I have never been a huge fan of change. The move to Virginia was a tough one: I dropped something on my foot before leaving Lexington, and all my tears  came flowing. Steve felt awful that he had to uproot me from Kentucky. Little did he know it would be the best thing for me. I learned a lot living in Virginia. I learned about myself, my family, and grew up a ton. Many would say you should do that before you get married. Well I'm thankful to have had Steve to be there with me through a very tough time (even though his absence made it that much tougher).  Who better to grow and learn with than your spouse?

In Virginia, we rented an apartment, bought a house (at 23 mind you), and then became landlords of that same house a little more than a year later. In fact, Steve spent more time on the boat than he did in that house. But boy did we love that house.

Then we moved to Connecticut. This was a HUGE blessing because the Devil had a hold on me in Virginia and I needed to get away. God knew the only way to get me to quit my job was to make me move. And move we did. We have made a great life and friends in Connecticut. We have been renting our house in Virginia to tenants and living in base housing up here.

Our next move isn't far away, not even 30 minutes away. We are moving to be closer to Steve's school for when he is out of the NAVY, but still close enough to the place we now call home. Where we have built our life in CT.

We are not buying a house or making a large investment in something that is not necessary or bad, but I have some anxiety. It's silly. Really. I mean even if the move ends up being a bad choice we can always get out of it and find a better place the next year. So why do I have anxiety. Because I hate change and once again the Devil is using that weakness to stir up my faith in the Lord and take hold. Well that ain't happening this time!

I am so thankful for all the experiences (good AND bad) that I have been through and I'm thankful to have a strong man of Christ to walk right beside me during it all.  This house will be the first home our baby girl knows. Who knew Connecticut would be a place we call home?!

Thank you for your prayers as we jump into the next season of our lives together!

Baby Update

It's time again to catch you up on the happenings of Baby Moore and I. Check out my baby bump at the end. :)

How far along? 16 weeks

Weight gain? 8 pounds

Maternity Clothes? Yep! We went shopping the other weekend and bought me lots of clothes plus I got some from my parents, sister, and parents-in-laws. So much more comfortable!

Size of baby? about 4.5 inches long head to rump and 3.5 ounces, about the size of an avocado, according to Baby Center's My pregnancy app.

Boy or Girl? Our appointment is set for April 25th! Hopefully Baby will cooperate. Stephen and I will be happy with either. I told my class I was having a baby the other day. One student had a magic 8 ball so we asked of course they had to ask if it would be a girl or boy. The answer: Yes definitely a girl. :)

Movement? I've been told I may not feel anything until weeks 21-23 since this is my first pregnancy.

Sleep?I realized that I wake up during dreams because I have to pee, so I sleep well with only 1 interruption or 2.

Food Cravings? I want to eat everything that I liked before and crave just like I used to. I tend to order hamburgers, eat anything cheese and I've been eating more fruit. They are not really cravings, but my go to foods.

What I miss? My regular allergy meds! Thankful for the netti pot, robitussin, and sudafed right now.

Symptoms? My bump is growing slowly and weight gain. Thankful that those are my only symptoms so far!

Looking forward to? Finding out the gender and feeling baby move around.

Daddy-to-be's thoughts: I'm excited, impatient, and ready to get that baby outta there! Can we put a bigger TV on the baby registry? I'm looking forward to finding out the gender and picking a name so we can have another secret together. I'm also looking forward to feeling Baby move.

If you have any questions feel free to ask or if I missed something that is fun to keep track of just let me know. :)

I promise there is a difference in size of the bump!

Baby News

Oh it was so good to finally spill the beans and tell the world about our baby! I cannot wait to meet this little one that God has given Steve and I.

I'm "stealing" the wonderful idea of updates about certain things from Hannah Harshman over on her blog Dash Of Sparkle. I will answer most questions people ask as well. So let's get started:

How far along? 11.5 weeks

Weight gain? 5 pounds last time I weighed myself

Maternity Clothes? Not yet, but I'm using the rubber band trick

Size of baby? a little over 1.5 inches about the size of fig

Boy or Girl? We won't know for quite a while (20 weeks). Stephen and I will be happy with either. Our 3 year-old niece thinks it will be either a girl or a unicorn. :)

Movement? I don't feel any yet, but the ultrasound tech said Baby is dancing around a lot.

Sleep? I often have dreams or nightmares that wake me up in the middle of the night at least 1, but usually 2-3 times a night. There have been a few nights where that glass of water late at night has woken me up and sent me to the bathroom, but overall besides the dreams, I sleep well.

Food Cravings? I want to eat everything that I liked before and crave just like I used to. Nothing new here. Thankfully I still want food!

What I miss? Medium Rare Steak! Boy did it smell good at the restaurant on V-day, but the chicken was great too.

Symptoms? Praise the Lord I have felt great! No nausea for me. I have been more tired, I feel exhausted the second I start my workout, but plush through it. I get random lower back (right where love handles are)pains that don't last long at all.

Looking forward to? Getting a baby bump! I know that sounds funny, but I just can't wait 'til I can feel Baby moving around.

If you have any questions feel free to ask or if I missed something that is fun to keep track of just let me know. :)

It's Christmas Time!

Hello! Oh I just love the holidays. My thanksgiving was absolutely perfect. Time with all my family and friends from home was exactly what I needed to get motivated to finish up grad work for this semester.

One of the reasons I went home was to hear my cousin announce that she is pregnant. And oh what an announcement. My uncle said, "We have an announcement." And then one my sisters unknowingly said, "Who's pregnant?!" Lindsey and Buck immediately replied, "We are!" It worked out perfectly, almost like it was rehearsed. Of course my husband then leans over to me and says, "Well at least we know when it's out turn not to say we have an announcement, haha." It was so cute though!

I love games! That was the other reason I went home. Lindsey was having a game night/31 party, and I didn't want to miss it. I have missed the Christmas game night the past few years and had been dying to play so I convinced Steve that we should go home. I had a great time hanging out with family and met some really sweet women who work with my cousins Lindsey and Kristy.

Steve and I got home Sunday afternoon and decided that evening would be the only chance we had to decorate for Christmas, so we did. These past few days with the tree lit up, stockings hanging, hot chocolate, and cheesy Christmas movies have been fantastic! Here are a few pictures.

Made this at Mad Potter with my friend Ellen!
